Fresh Apple Cake
Fall is apple harvest time! This recipe pairs apple cake with caramel frosting for a delicious fall treat.
- 3 eggs
- 1 ½ cups oil
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3 cups chopped apples
- 1 cup nuts
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Beat together eggs, oil and sugar.
In a separate bowl, sift together flour, salt, and soda.
Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture and stir well. (batter will be stiff - almost like cookie dough)
Add chopped appes, nuts, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Bake in a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan at 350° for 1 hour
Caramel Frosting Instructions
In a medium saucepan, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and milk.
Bring to boil.
Cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Set aside to cool for 30 minutes.
Add powdered sugar and mix well.
